Where it started

StudentCrowd was founded in 2015 by three graduates who were frustrated by the lack of real, helpful information about student life.

What began as a place for students to share honest experiences has grown into a full-coverage data platform – still with student decision-making at its heart. The first to combine verified reviews, complete PBSA coverage, and live operational data in one place, it’s now used daily by universities, investors, operators, and thousands of students across the UK, Ireland, and into Europe.

The reviews are widely being used, and proprietary data collection starts. StudentCrowd starts to license the raw data to a major advisor in the sector

Operators start to embed reviews into their websites with the Review API.
Start licensing the data to operators so that they can manage some decisions and strategies for their properties and learn what students want

The Insights Tool was released to the sector, enabling operational decisions for the first time.

2022

Joined the PwC Raise Programme, embarking on an intensive investor readiness journey to prepare StudentCrowd for its next phase of growth.

StudentCrowd raised over £2.5 million through the MEIF Proof of Concept & Early Stage Fund, which is managed by Mercia Ventures and part of the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF).

2024

StudentCrowd introduced the Insights & Analysis tool, delivering richer data insights and market insights to the PBSA sector for the first time.

StudentCrowd’s data is used by all top 30 operators in the sector. The platform now offers commission-free direct reservations via studentcrowd.com, and introduces the PropSet Classifier, a framework within the tool enabling like-for-like comparisons across PBSA assets
